The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region is working to improve the welfare of persons with disabilities through various support programmes aimed at promoting economic independence and social inclusion.
The Municipal Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Josephine Dzokoto, plays a role in coordinating social welfare interventions for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, to help improve their living conditions.
Support for persons with disabilities includes livelihood assistance, the provision of working tools, medical support and other interventions designed to reduce financial difficulties and create opportunities for self-reliance.
These initiatives are intended to empower beneficiaries to establish small businesses, improve their household incomes and participate actively in the development of their communities.
The Assembly’s efforts also highlight the importance of building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to access social services, economic resources and community support.
Continued collaboration among the Municipal Assembly, relevant institutions and stakeholders remains important in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and ensuring that their needs receive the necessary attention.
