The New Juaben South Municipal Education Directorate has prohibited its staff from engaging in partisan Politics debate and argument in their offices.
The memo followed by notices posted on doors of the various offices has been necessitated by increasing open partisan Politics and arguments among some staff particularly about the 2021 election outcomes and the election petition.
“No Partisan Politics Here” written boldly on notices boards and offices of the directorate.
The decision is to reinforce the code of conduct for civil servants and bring sanity.
The Supreme Court in 2017 held in the case of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) vs the Attorney-General & 2 Others that, a member of the civil service or local government cannot contest for elections, other than local government elections, or hold a political party position.
In the unanimous view of the 9-member panel of the apex Court, excessive partisanship in the civil and or local government services affect the anonymity and neutrality principles required for the civil service to function effectively.
