Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, braved heavy rainfall last night to campaign as part of efforts to secure maximum votes for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries.
Okyere Baafi, who is seeking a second term as MP, has embarked on a visual evidence-based campaign, showcasing what he calls the “unprecedented achievements” of the NPP in the constituency.
In a video, the Lawmaker is seen articulating his achievements to voters in the rain while the voters seated under tents.
In the 2020 parliamentary elections, Okyere Baafi secured 47,862 votes, representing 69.90%, while his closest rival, Martin Otu Offei of the NDC, garnered 20,164 votes (29.45%).
In the presidential race, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 45,070 votes (65.89%), defeating John Mahama, who obtained 22,884 votes (33.46%).
Reflecting on his first term, Okyere Baafi rated his performance at 80%, citing key achievements such as the construction of AstroTurf facilities, hospitals, trade fund initiatives, scholarships, construction of classroom blocks,toilet facilities, ,provision of computers for ICT laboratory, the asphalting of over 47 kilometers of roads.
