The Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP) has elected new national executives to guide its operations for the next two years. The election took place during the recently concluded 52nd Annual General Conference and Meeting (AGCM) held at Koforidua Technical University (KTU) in Eastern Region.
Pln. Percy Anaab Bukari (FGIP) emerged as the newly elected President, with Pln. Dr. Stephen Appiah Takyi and Pln. Kekeli Kofi Amedzro serving as the first and second vice Presidents, respectively. Other elected officials include Pln. Kenneth Yaoh Ketor as Honorary Secretary, Pln. Wilfred Ebo Sam-Awortwe (Assistant Secretary), Pln Anthony Kanyi Foli-Adade (Treasurer), and Pln. Jalil Mahama (PRO). Pln. Dr. Dennis Puorideme was co-opted as the Editor of the Institute’s journal.
GIP, as the professional body for planners, holds a significant position in Ghana, being the first professional body registered in the country under the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143).
Its members span various national structures, government organs, and the private sector.
Outgoing President, Pln. Mohammed A. Damba, urged the new executives to continue enhancing the Institute’s reputation.
During his tenure, several reforms were introduced, including a continuing professional development program, the creation of a Planning Technician class, and a structured membership admission system.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the Institute’s journal.
The newly elected President expressed commitment to elevating the Institute’s profile, seeking the support of members to ensure the success of his administration for the advancement of professional planning in Ghana.
