On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, George Mireku Duker, the deputy Lands and Natural Resources minister engaged Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs and Officials of Newmont Ghana Limited at Tang Palace, Accra.
The meeting was to bring to finality, speculative activities of some concerned farmers which is delaying the compensation and resettlement plans in line with the US$850 million Newmont Ahafo-North Project.
Nana Ansah Adubaa II, President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs in his speech commended the Ministry for all efforts towards the Project.
The Chiefs indicated that, government have all their support to apply all necessary regulations to ensure that, the Project is commenced as soon as possible.
