Newmont’s Ahafo South Process team presented food and sanitary items to the Mum’s Love Rural Orphanage Foundation at Duayaw Nkwanta.
Items donated include 10 bags of 50kg rice, 1 boxes tomato paste, 2 bags of 50kg brown sugar, 3 gallons cooking oil, 10 packs of baby diapers, 2 buckets of washing powder, 11 tins of cereals, 2 bundles of toilet rolls, assorted biscuits, and drinks.
The team had earlier donated to the foundation in 2021, where they observed the orphanage’s debilitating state, which posed safety hazards to the children.
In 2022, through contributions from employees and contractors, we raised funds to refurbish the facility, including replacing the building roofing and louvre blades, replacing ceiling and window nets, and painting the entire building.
The total cost of the rehabilitation project and donated items amounted to GHS62,000.
It is fulfilling to see our employees and contractors giving back to society and championing our Purpose of creating value and improving lives in our host communities.
