Finance minister receiving the cheque from Newmont
Newmont Africa’s Akyem Mine presented a cheque of Gh¢184.6 million to the government as dividends for the year 2022.
The amount represents the government of Ghana’s carried interest in the operations of the Akyem mine.
The cheque was presented by executives of Newmont Africa led by David Thornton, the Regional Senior Vice President of Africa Operations.
Ghana’s finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta received the cheque on behalf of the government.
