Former President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has announced plans to elevate New Juaben to metropolitan status if he is elected in the December 2024 elections.
According to the 2021 population and housing census,the population for New Juaben South was 125,256 while New Juaben North’s population was
93,201 .
Speaking at a rally in the New Juaben South constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Mahama emphasized that Koforidua which is the regional capital’s growing population and expansion in commercial activities necessitate its upgrade.
He explained that granting metropolitan status would catalyze development in the area, enhance infrastructure, and attract increased investment opportunities, positioning Koforidua as a major hub in the region.
Mahama assured residents that his future government remains committed to ensuring comprehensive growth and development for Koforidua and its environs.
This pledge forms part of the broader development agenda the NDC leader is proposing to improve living conditions and drive progress across Ghana.
He assured that the NDC will build agro processing factory in koforidua.
Mahama said there is the need for change to ensure accountability of corruption among current government officials.
He called on voters in New Juaben South to vote for him and the Parliamentary candidate Martin Otu Offei.
