Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, the talented linebacker of the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL) of America has visited His Royal Majesty Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the esteemed overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Hailing from Akyem Tafo in Akyem Abuakwa, Jeremiah, known for his remarkable pre-game style of donning African traditional attire, including kente and fugu, came to the Ofori Panin Fie to express his respect and pay homage to his King.
Born on November 4, 1999, Owusu-Koramoah made a name for himself in college football at Notre Dame.
In his senior year in 2020, he achieved significant recognition, winning the Butkus Award, being named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and earning unanimous All-American honors.
His outstanding performances led to his selection by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and G Wyatt Teller have recently been named to the Pro Bowl.
They will be replacing Steelers LB T.J. Watt and Browns G Joel Bitonio, who are unable to participate due to injury.
This marks Owusu-Koramoah’s first career Pro Bowl.
He led the Browns with 98 tackles, while adding 3.5 sacks, six passes defensed and one forced fumble.
He finished fourth in the NFL with 20 tackles-for-a-loss during the regular season and added four more during the club’s postseason game at Houston.
He helped the Browns defense lead the NFL in several categories including total defense (270.2 yards per game) and passing defense (164.7 yards per game).
The visit to the traditional council reflects Owusu-Koramoah’s connection to his roots and his appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Akyem Abuakwa.
