The President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has stated that he has revived the National Health Insurance Scheme.
According to him, the NHIS scheme was practically worthless at the time he gained power because it was not serving its purpose.
However, with efficiency measures that he has put in place the NHIS is back to life and every citizen is benefitting from the scheme.
He made this assertion in an interview with Mohammed Zunurene on Koforidua Sunrise FM.
“The NHIS card was virtually worthless at that time I gained power but now people are using it in hospitals to cater for their medication”, he said.
He said that people now have the right to use the card in hospitals and it’s very effective unlike before.
The President added that the suppliers for various hospitals are paid regularly to ensure the effectiveness of the card.
