Nida Mensah aka ‘Sugar’ of Reformers FC has expressed excitement over news that the first crunch Ministry of Youth and Sports through Youth Employment Agency support for 480 registered women’s footballers with GHS 500.00 monthly allowances for 6 months has landed.
The Reformers Ladies FC winger revealed her blazing humor hearing the news and how far it will go to strengthen the women’s game and empower them financially.
The Ghana Football Association on Wednesday, July 1 reached announced a partnership with the MOYS and YEA to assist 480 players registered across the 16 Women’s Premier League clubs scattered across the country.
Players will receive monthly allowances on top of their salaries for the 6 months starting July 2020.
“It’s good news, I felt very happy seeing it. I thank the government for giving us this support, in fact it is not easy to be playing with no financial support.
“This will go long way to improve our game, and players will be able to manage to pay for a lot of things to help improve the standard.
“We are very appreciative to the GOC, YEA, NSA, MYS and the GFA” she added
She hopes to attract the national team selectors, and feature for the Blaack Princesses or Black Queens.
