The Nigerian Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed Nnamdi Kanu’s fresh bail application, urging an accelerated hearing of the Federal Government’s seven-count charge against him for treasonable felony.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) plea for bail was based on his deteriorating health, supported by medical evidence of hypertension and acute heart disease.
His legal team argued that his detention posed a threat to his life and hindered his defense preparation.
However, the prosecution opposed bail, citing Kanu’s past bail violation and arguing that his release might jeopardize trial proceedings.
