Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, the national coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), has stated that he is willing to run for the National Chairmanship of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), provided that Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the current Chairman, declines to run for reelection.
The former Odododiodio MP stated on Face to Face Tuesday that his choice to run will be solely based on Asiedu Nketia’s subsequent political action.
“If the current Chairman, my very good brother Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is not contesting, I will contest.”
Asiedu Nketia is reportedly thinking about running in the NDC’s presidential primary ahead of the general elections in 2028, which coincides with Mr. Vanderpuye’s remarks.
The event has rekindled discussion in the party about possible successors to the seasoned party veteran, who has held a number of leadership positions for many years.
