A young footballer has been confirmed dead in a fatal crash which left 62 others injured.
The crash occurred on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at approximately 3:30 AM, involving a bus with registration number GE 7652-15.
The bus was transporting players and officials from the Ada-based Monarch Football Club.
According to reports, the accident happened while the team was descending the Kwahu Mountain towards Nkawkaw after participating in a weeklong football tournament in Obo Kwahu, featuring 32 teams.
A survivor recounted that the bus’s brakes failed, causing it to sway uncontrollably before overturning.
Emergency services, including the Fire Service and Police, quickly responded to the scene.
Five players who were trapped in the wreckage were successfully rescued by firemen.
The injured were promptly transported to the Holy Family Hospital and Kenop Care Hospital for urgent medical attention.
