The Nkawkaw Police Command has launched investigations into a deadly shooting incident that claimed the lives of three persons in Nkawkaw, the Kwahu West Municipal capital, on evening o Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims, identified as members of the Fulani community, were resting at their usual gathering spot when unknown assailants ambushed and opened fire on them without any provocation.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but preliminary police information suggests it could be linked to a Fulani-related dispute or misunderstanding.
Authorities, however, say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The three deceased have been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while another victim who sustained injuries is receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.
The Nkawkaw Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and called for calm as investigations continue.
An official statement from the police is expected in few hours as the matter develops.
