Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Middle Belt Development Authority has revealed plans to build an ultra-modern stadium for Nkawkaw Constituency in the Eastern Region.
Nkawkaw has been without a major sports edifice and that has slowed growth, however, the CEO has expressed readiness to provide the people of the area with a benefiting stadium.
Speaking in an interview with Bryt FM, she said, “Following my appointment onto the middle belt development authority, I informed authorities of the institution to develop the Nkawkaw stadium and they have also accepted it. So plans are on board”
“Very soon there will be sod cutting for the redevelopment of Nkawkaw stadium into an ultramodern sports stadium” she emphasized.
According to her, the initiative to construct a befitting stadium for the area will be finance by the government but is of the view individuals could support when necessary.
She adds that the middle belt development authority together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority are working hand in hand to provide the necessary support for its construction.
Mrs Joyce Boateng who has officially declared her intentions to contest the Nkawkaw Constituency seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in April 2020 expressed believe that people will be interested to invest in the project to raise it to the level expected when it commences.
