John Boadu, the General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party has stated firmly that no one can impose a flagbearer on the New Patriotic Party in the presidential election come 2024.
According to Mr. Boadu, the party aims to break the 8 and for that matter will open nomination at the right time for qualified persons to apply and contest.
He made this assertion during an interview with Neat FM in Accra.
“This is not a party that someone can impose a leader on us. Not at all, nobody can do that. We have a tradition,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
With that notwithstanding, Mr. Boadu stated emphatically that “President Nana Addo cannot impose a flagbearer on the party. Why would he do that, I don’t think he will do that”.
To him, the governing party has a tradition of allowing candidates to be elected by the party’s delegates.
