Vacuum trucks in New Juaben North and South parked for weeks because there is no place to dislodge fecal waste in the two Municipalities.
The wastewater stabilization Pond that receives human excreta for treatment has been closed down for almost a month due to spillage attributed to the heavy rainfalls being recorded in the Municipalities.
Owing to this, many public and private toilet facilities that are full have been closed down.
This has forced many residents in the affected communities to resort to open defecation.
The situation is worst in Koforidua Betom where only two public toilet facilities have been shut down.
“We are suffering here at Betom, all our public toilets have been shut down. Now people are defecating everywhere. Look at these places, all these polythene bags contain toilet they shit in it and throw it around” a resident said.
Sadly some food vendors were spotted preparing food amidst the compromised sanitation and hygiene in the area.
Zoomlion Ghana limited however says, the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly owns the dislodging site hence has cannot be held responsible for the inconveniences.
The MCE for New Juaben North Comfort Asante is yet to comment on the development.
