Asante Kotoko coach Mariano Bareto has questioned the acquisition of Brazilian forward Michael Vinicius, saying no top striker from the North American country will travel to Ghana to play football.
The 28-year-old who joined the Porcupine Warriors in the second round of the Ghana Premier League left the club after just 78 days.
The Ghanaian giants and Brazilian striker Michael Vinicius mutually parted ways.
He has played only 75 minutes of football for the Kumasi-based outfit, scoring twice.
In an interview with Nhyira FM, the Portuguese trainer waded into the signing of Michael Vinicius and said he was surprised when management told him a top Brazilian striker is joining the team as a replacement for Kwame Poku who left for USM Alger in Algeria.
“Players from Ghana want to go to Europe; players from Brazil also want to go to Europe. Mostly for Money,”
“So, I was surprised to hear that a top striker from Brazil is coming to replace Kwame Poku at Kotoko.”
“When they (Kotoko) told me a top Brazilian striker is to replace Kwame Opoku, I was surprised. Because why could a top striker in Brazil come to Ghana?”
