The New Juaben South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has thrown down a gauntlet to the leadership of Koforidua Development Advocate, a group that previously called for the repair of Koforidua roads and conducted a demonstration expressing dissatisfaction with their condition.
The challenge urges the leaders to acknowledge the significant facelift in Koforidua’s road infrastructure, either by issuing an apology or openly commending the Member of Parliament, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi.
Speaking at a media briefing in Koforidua on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, Eugene Bempong, the Communications Director for the New Juaben South Constituency of the NPP, emphasized the need for the critics to reassess the situation in light of the unprecedented improvements in the city’s roads.
“Lastly, we had a group calling for Koforidua roads to be fixed and made a lot of derogatory comments about the NPP government and the Member of Parliament who had been in office for just 2 years at that time. It is only fair to say that, they should eat the humble pie and if not apologize, at least use the same medium to commend the NPP government and the Member of Parliament for seeing to the unprecedented face lift of Koforidua roads. I want to challenge the Media here present to find the leaders of the so called Fix Koforidua Roads Demo and ask them the following questions; Are they satisfied with the works so far? Are they considering having a presser to commend the Government and the MP. How did they use the monies collected from the NDC and the general public intended for the demo walk?”.
The party added “If truly they claim they were not sponsored by any political party seeking to use the situation to score cheap political points then the good people of Koforidua are waiting on them to do the needful by apologizing and commending the Government and the MP Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi for keeping to his promise”.
