The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive instructing its members to cease public discussions that could create division or disaffection within the party following its recent electoral defeat.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and released on March 20, 2025, the party acknowledged the disappointment and frustration among its members but urged them to remain calm to ensure stability.
“Many of us, as party members, have, on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration. However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time,” the statement read.
The directive, which is in line with Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution, mandates all members to refrain from discussing party matters that could cause unrest in the media and other public platforms. The party also reminded members of Article 3(5) of the constitution, which requires them to promote and defend the good name of the party.
As part of enforcement measures, the statement indicated that National, Regional, and Constituency leaders have been authorized to refer any member who violates the directive to the party’s disciplinary committees for appropriate action.
The NPP urged its members to uphold the party’s values and work together to rebuild a stronger and more united front for the future.
