Regional executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP have been accused of the ongoing chaos in the New Juaben North and South constituencies as far as the party’s internal election is concerned.
The NPP on Friday, 19th February 2022 opened nomination for polling stations aspirants to pick forms to contest in the upcoming elections but has been marred with confusion and chaos.
Some aspirants are accusing Regional and Constituency executives of failing to make the nominations open to all qualified aspirants but rather giving out forms to persons believed to be part of incumbent executives.
Constituency Organiser hopeful, Ernest Kwaku Boateng in an interview on Bryt FM news alleged the Member of Parliament for the area, Michael Okyere Baafi, Regional as well as Constituency executives have designed a strategy to ensure only those that sing to their tune are allowed to contest.
He revealed, “my information has it that, it is a ploy to get those who are not serving their interest out of the contest to favor them in the Constituency and Regional elections when the time is due”.
K.B as affectionately called hinted “the executives have decided to sell out only two forms; that is to the incumbents who wish to contest and any other person from their camp. How can we break the 8 slogans if our Regional and Constituency executives continue to behave like this”.
He is, however, calling on National executives of the party to intervene in the issue in order not to disturb the peace within the party.
