Most Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party who openly declared their support for Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia will lose their seat in the party’s internal elections, a staunch member of Friends of Bryan Acheampong has warned.
According to Rev George Opoku Acheampong, the actions of the sixty three lawmakers of the minority is a disgrace and therefore will come with punishment from delegates in the party’s parliamentary primaries.
The MPs led by Mampong lawmaker, Kwaku Apratwum-Sarpong have had notable personalities like Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum), John Ntim Fordjour (Assin South), and Ekow Vincent Assafuah (Tafo) and many others.
However, Rev George Opoku Acheampong responding to the latest development rubbished the actions of the minority MPs, insisting, they did not put the interest of the party first before making that shameless endorsement.
He was quick to add that their actions will see many of them losing their seats in the party’s upcoming internal primaries to elect new representatives to represent the party in the 2028 general elections.
He made reference to Cynthia Morrison of Awutu Senya East, Atwima Mponua, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Tano North, Freda Prempeh, Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi and KT Hammond of Adansi Asokwa, who all lost their seats because of their inactions.
He emphasized that the party currently needs to unite ahead of the 2028 general elections hence the need to do away with such parochial interest attitudes from MPs, party executives and members in general.
Making emphasis on why Bryan Acheampong stands out tall among his contenders, Rev Opoku Acheampong stressed the NPP currently needs a leader who the can bring everyone on board to seek victory for the NPP come 2028.
“The NPP is in need of someone who can bring unity into the party for the victory we are all yearning for. He is the only one who has the qualities we need for the NPP because we can’t afford to make the same mistake we made in 2024”, Rev George Opoku Acheampong insisted.
He also pointed out numerous support and sacrifices Dr Bryan Acheampong has offered to the party over the years and called on delegates to reward him to become the Flagbearer of the NPP.
