A member of the New Patriotic Party in Amponya Krofuom in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti region, Kofi Apau Danso popularly known as teacher Kofi has asked the Vice President to desist from saying he has sacrificed for the NPP.
Teacher Kofi who joined the NPP in 1992 is not happy the Vice President who was not part of the party in its turbulent periods of 1992-2000 will be telling members of the NPP who have been part of the struggle that he has sacrificed.
He explained his position by first defining what sacrifice is according to the dictionary.
The dictionary which teacher Kofi quotes from explains Sacrifice as “giving up (something valuable) for the sake of other considerations”. Teacher Kofi makes the point that to say you have sacrificed means you gave up something valuable for other considerations which were less valuable.
The question that Teacher Kofi is asking the Vice President is what valuable thing did the Vice President give up for his decision to join the Npp as a running mate in 2008?
The Vice President before joining the NPP in 2008 as a running mate was working at the Bank of Ghana as the Deputy Governor.
Teacher Kofi is asking whether leaving the position of the Deputy Governor to take the position of a running mate which led to him becoming the second most powerful person in this country qualifies as a sacrifice?
According to him,at the bank of Ghana, the Vice President was confined to a small office, small apartment, salary and other incentives were far less, exposure was minimal among others.
Teacher Kofi is of the view that the more the Vice President makes the case that he has sacrificed, the more he infuriates the rank and file of the party who have worked since 1992 and are yet to even get the position of polling station organiser. He believes he can make his point without going into the realm of sacrifice as nothing he has done qualifies to be termed as sacrificial.
Teacher Kofi is urging all NPP members not to take the way and manner the Vice President is abusing the word sacrifice to heart so they could focus in working for the party always.
