NPP presidential hopeful Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has vowed to modernize the party if he wins the flagbearership race.
The former Trade and Industry Minister made a suggestion about creating organizations that can raise money to pay party officials, so they may focus on their obligations to the party.
The former Trade and Industry Minister, who held the position for more than 10 years throughout both the Kufuor and Akufo-Addo regimes, announced that he would establish a pension plan for party officials who had dedicated their entire lives to serving it.
The commerce and industry expert did not hold back when emphasizing the need for sponsoring party projects and inspiring listeners during a radio program in Kumasi.
“There must be a platform and programmes for party financing. I have the record to have set up the Constituency Business Ventures in the past, that is your way to strengthening the party”, the former Trade and Industry Minister said.
The seasoned politician proposed a pay system for party executives at the constituency and national levels that will allow them to focus on party concerns.
In order to inspire others, he also proposed a pension plan for dedicated, full-time party officials.
“Full-time party executives must be on full salary to enable them to devote more attention to party work.
“There will be a pension scheme to retired party executives who devote all their time to working for the NPP”, the former Trade and Industry Minister concluded.
“The focus should be on the party because it is the party that brings the government into power,” Alan Kyerematen said.
