The current Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has declared his intention to run for president of Ghana in the general elections of 2024, according to Nana Obiri Boahen, a former deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Nana Obiri Boahen, who identified himself as the leader of the international Dr. Bawumia for President movement, stated that he has not requested any appointments from the Vice President. He was acting instead of his own free will.
“No man born of a woman can beat Dr Bawumia,” he said, adding: “I am borrowing the words of William Shakespeare from his book, Macbeth,” to buttress his point.
But Nana Obiri Boahen wasn’t slow to point out that while all the flagbearer candidates who had so far announced their interest in running for the position were qualified and qualified to lead the party, “I am of the strong conviction that Dr Bawumia will win the contest and go on to win the national elections,” she added.
“I know the volume of work I am doing for Dr Bawumia, and everywhere I go, I receive a lot of encouragement from the people concerning Dr Bawumia,” he stated.
The NPP former Deputy General Secretary said: “I am going to set this nation ablaze. What I mean is that I am going to set this country politically ablaze by ensuring that Vice President Bawumia wins the NPP presidential primary and wins the national elections.
