The ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) branch of the United States of America(USA) has held a free health screening and treatment for the people of Ketu South in the Volta Region.
The health exercise was in collaboration with the New York chapter of the NPP USA branch and the NPP global medical team. Hundreds of residents participated seek healthcare.
The Secretary of the NPP global medical team, Dr. Stephen Kofi Amankwah noted that most of the people above 60 years screened were diagnosed with chronic diseases, particularly high blood pressure.
The Secretary of the NPP global medical team, Dr. Stephen Kofi Amankwah, revealed that lots of the aged in particular were identified to have serious chronic diseases but due to financial difficulties was not seeking healthcare worsening their conditions.
“Most of them have chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes and the rest and realized most have defaulted for so many months and years when you ask why they are not going to hospital they say because they don’t have money, because the insurance has expired, they have resorted to traditional medicine so we realized that some of them have high BP as high as 200/120”
The Operation Director of Global Medical Team Fred Okyere also said the team came to Ketu South to offer the people within the community primary health care with the support of the party executive in the constituency.
He said the free Primary healthcare policy being championed by the NDC is already being implemented by the medical team.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the exercise, Mrs. Obaa Yaa Frimpong the Chairperson of NPP USA branch said, the health concern and needs of the people should be paramount in a very.
Mrs. Frimpong stated that there’s hope that the NPP can win the Ketu South constituency parliamentary seat for the first time, looking at how they manage to close the gap in 2016 compared to that of 2012 and the good work they have executed in the area.
