The former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress NDC and now the CEO and Founder of Atta Mills Institute Koku Anyidoho has said that the current NPP government has messed up and mismanaged the economy but former President John Mahama is not the alternative.
He said former Finance Minister Dr.Kwabena Duffuor has the track records as the only competent option for Ghanains.
Speaking in an interview with journalist at the sidelines of the 10th Eastern Presbytery Synod 2023 at Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana Amenuveve Congregation in Koforidua, Mr. Koku Anyidoho said there is no doubt that Akufo Addo led NPP government has messed up the economy which he partly blamed former President H.E John Dramani Mahama.
He said it was former President Mahama who started going to the Eurobond market to borrow which has excited Ken Ofori Atta to do it excessively.
He said “the NPP government has messed up in so many ways and I won’t hide it but there is a history to the messing up if you are talking about the Eurobond for example the borrowing it started with John Mahama 1 billion, 1 billion , 1 billion , 750 together 3.75 billion he started it”
” Under Duffuor and President Mills not a single Eurobond was taking so if you started the mess and Ken Ofori Atta came and he found a cheap way of also making money and has entered it who would I blame so there is a principle in law that you don’t create a problem and turn around to benefit from your own mess”
“John Mahama has created this mess and lost by 1 million votes what makes him think that that he will benefit from his mess, the truth of the matter is the NPP has messed up and is messing up no too ways but John Mahama is not the option , people love the NDC but John Mahama’s time is over” he said.
According to Mr. Koku Anyidoho who has declared his support for former Finance Minister Dr.Kwabena Duffuor says the outcome of both the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2016 and 2020 clearly indicates that the NDC performs better in parliamentary election than presidential therefore the problem is not about the NDC as a party but rather John Mahama is the problem.
” In 2016 we lost badly MP Presidency but in 2020 when we were winning parliamentary we were still losing presidential , a typical region is Central region in 2016 while we were losing badly we won in only 4 constituencies both parliamentary and presidential , 2020 we won in 13 constituencies parliamentary but Presidential we still won in only 4 so the NDC hasn’t got the problem it is John Mahama who has the problem with the electorates” he added.
Finally, Mr. Koku Anyidoho revealed the spiritual implications of holding the presidential sword more than twice saying any individual who will be sworn in with the presidential sword more than two times will be a curse on the country.
“We don’t destool and reinstate him again it is abomination ,the sword that the President hold to swear the oath of office spiritually you can hold it only twice Jerry Rawlings held it twice 1992 and 1996 President Kuffuor held it twice 2000 and 2004 President Mills held it once he died he left”
“John Mahama on the 9th of 24th July ,2012 you held the sword of state and you swore an oath on the 7th of January, 2013 you held the sword of state again and swore an oath why do you want to hold it three times to be a curse on the country, Nana Addo has held it twice he can’t hold it the third time why does John Mahama think that Ghana was created for him and that he will come and mess the country up spiritually and physically it can’t happen” he said.
