The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the inability of the ruling government led by President Akufo-Addo to combat corruption has enfeebled the hope Ghanaians have in office-bearers.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based TV station, the NDC Presidential candidate stated that the failure of the NPP government to erase corruption from the system has made Ghanaians mislay faith in politics because politicians particularly, the NPP government can’t fulfil what they normally promise Ghanaians.
“President Akufo-Addo stated his 2016 manifesto that, when Ghanaians vote NPP into power, they will secure Ghanaians form corruption, yet they are still swimming in it. It has been three and a half years since Akuffo Addo took over the governance of the country, and he (Akuffo Addo) has not been able to battle this corruption situation”, John Mahama averred.
The former president indicated that if the NPP government has been able to ask the auditor general to go on leave, the possibility to urge the EC Boss, CHRAJ and the other officers of that stature to go on leave is very high adding that if their keys to their office changed meaning there is no intention for them to return.
John Dramani Mahama affirmed that he was not surprised that the NPP was not mentioning corruption in their 2020 manifesto saying the NPP’s don’t have any means to cut corruption off from the country.
