Former President John Dramani Mahama, the 2020 Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the New Patriotic Party administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo is just renaming existing factories as new ones established by them to deceive Ghanaians.
According to him, their Private Public Partnership initiative for the 1D1F is not real and said what the NPP administration is doing is to tag some factories revamped by some Ghanaians and investors and later deceive Ghanaians that the Government financially supported them.
Addressing the Oti Regional House of Chiefs and other sub-chiefs at Nkwanta during his “Thank you” tour to the Region challenged the NPP administration to come out with a list of new factories established by the Government.
Mr. Mahama stated that his party decided to build new state own factories for Ghanaians but he was not giving the node to serve again.
Mr. Mahama said a rice factory for the Oti Region would save about 800 million dollars used for rice importing every year.
He also noted that a poultry factory for Oti would also produce eggs and chicken for the entire country, thereby saving money used for importing eggs and chicken.
Mr. Mahama further stated that palm plantations in the Region would also save the country from the importation of about 437,000 metric tonnes of palm oil being imported from Malaysia.
