Allegations against the Electoral Commission (EC) of being in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been described as baseless as it lacks fact merit.
Communication member of the NPP, Nana Kofi Akomea, in an interview with Kwahu Dehyie of on Bryt FM “Ebesi Sen” political show questioned accusers if the EC operates from the offices of the NPP to warrant such accusations.
He stated the EC has an independent mandate by the constitution to compile new voters register and wonder why the opposition National Democratic Congress is raising needless issues on the matter.
Nana Kofi Akomea also rubbished NDC allegation of soldiers deployed to the Volta region allegedly intimidating residents, saying it is mere propaganda by the NDC to paint the NPP black in the eyes of Voltarians.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians especially those in the Volta Region not to see the NPP as an alien as it has over the years had a cordial relationship with Voltarians even more than the NDC.
