The New Patriotic Party has lost the Akwatia Parliamentary seat in the 7th December General election.
The seat was won by a 51-year-old Businessman, Mr. Henry Boakye Yiadom who contested with the NPP’s candidate, Mr. Ernerst Kumi, who defeated Mercy Adu Gyamfi Bello, popularly known as Amasey in internal primaries.
Mr. Henry Boakye-Yiadom, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Okoyo Foundation, was elected as the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Akwatia constituency for the 2020 elections in 2019.
He defeated Mr. Erasmus Ali, popularly known as Asanka Poyoyo, Presiding Member of the Denkyembour District Assembly, by 625 votes to 121. There were six rejected ballots.
