Sammy Awuku, Director General of Ghana’s National Lottery Authority, advises the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to concentrate on reclaiming its advantage in the chamber of representatives.
The former National Organiser of the NPP said he expects a fight for numerous parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections while speaking on the Citi Morning Show on Tuesday, April 4.
But, he stated that the NPP will defeat the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) through a number of different techniques.
“I think that the NPP must focus on regaining our lost seats because there will be a battle for Parliament. But I think we [NPP] will beat the NDC through strategy.”
Mr. Awuku also made a suggestion that he would run for the NPP’s nomination for the Akropong parliamentary seat.
He claims that several local chiefs and opinion leaders are persuading him to run for the Akropong seat.
After the 2016 elections, the NPP held 169 of the parliamentary seats, while the NDC held 106.
The NPP lost its firm hold on Parliament after the 2020 elections, dropping from 137 members to 137, while the NDC likewise had 137 MPs and one independent candidate.
