The national treasurer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwabena Abankwah- Yeboah has donated 50 buckets of the ten-liter size paint to the Akropong School for the blind in the Akuapem north municipality in the Eastern region.
Last year, the industrious national treasurer for the NPP embarked and completed the refurbishment of the deplorable boy’s dormitory for the visually impaired students in the same school.
“The donation today is in fulfillment of a promise I made to the school last year during the handing over ceremony of the refurbished boy’s dormitory, to supply the school with 50 buckets of paint every year to maintain the edifice of the boy’s dormitory and other structures in the school,” he said.
He explained that even though he was notified that the school was challenged with toilet facilities and dining hall, so far as he is concerned immediate steps shall be put in place to meet all their needs.
He admonished that “parents should be proud of their children even when they are physically challenged and should raise them to be God-fearing so that they can unearth the Godly talents gifted to them for the benefit of the society”.
Mr. Simon Adedeme who is the headmaster of the school received the donated items on behalf of the school expressed his appreciation and satisfaction to Mr. Kwabena Abankwah- Yeboah for devoting himself to doing such a Godly work in favor of the visually impaired students.
The headmaster also advised and called on all parents with visually impaired children to urgently enroll their wards in the Akropong School for the blind so that when they grow they will not become a burden to society.
He said since most parents are not even aware that there exists a visually impaired school, they decide to keep their children in the house,
He is thereby calling on the government and the ministry of education to intensify educating the general populace about the existence of a school for the blind.
