President Akufo-Addo has urged the next NPP presidential candidate to unite the party as he believes by so doing the party can easily break the eight (8).
He noted that as is in the case of every competition, there will be some form of divisions in the party after the internal polls.
“The 2024 Presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) must have the ability to unite all fronts. I am hoping that the level playing field that allows us to elect our next presidential candidate will also bring us a candidate who can unite our party,’’ he said.
However, Mr Akufo-Addo said, the person to be elected as the flagbearer should have the ability to unite all the fronts.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM as part of his tour of the Greater Accra region on Thursday, October 21, Mr Akufo-Addo cautioned the governing party against division because that will have an overall effect on the state.
“There is the responsibility on us to conduct ourselves in a way that reduces cracks’’
“Cracks in the NPP can have a reflection on the state, we are the ruling party and if our base, which is our party, is fractured that fact can be translated into fracturing the state, nobody wants that.”
