Four Men and a Woman are vying for the Parliamentary Candidate Seat in Lower West Akim Constituency of the Eastern Region.
The Party has fixed January 27, 2024, to conduct the final leg of its internal election to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2024 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections.
Candidates contesting for the Seat in Lower West Akim Constituency are Honourable Charles Acheampong, Incumbent, Mr. Kwadwo Odame Antwi,Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Grace Akosua Amoabeng, Entrepreneur and Business Woman and a daughter of former MP for the Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye
Deputy Managing Director – (Operations) at State Transport Company and Dr. Adamu Abdulai, General Manager of DKT International AngloPhone West Africa.
In April 25, 2020 Primaries, Candidates for the Constituency Primaries were former MP who served from 2008 to 2016, Gifty Klenam, Former District Chief Executive for the area who is currently serving as Deputy Director in charge of operations at STC, Kwabena Sintim Aboagye, the CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Authority, Kwadwo Odame Antwi, a businessman, Kwabena Asamoah and Charles Acheampong who won the internal election and the Parliamentary seat.
In the 2020 Election, the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Lower West Akim, Charles Acheampong, won the seat for the party and polled 27, 527, to beat his main contender from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Michael Adu-Sei, who garnered 19,744 votes.
2024 Candidates Profile
Honourable Charles Acheampong was born on Saturday, 9th May, 1981. He holds Masters (Wireless Communications) – 2012 and has worked with the National Communications Authority before.
At Parliament, he serves in the Communications Committee and Committee on Gender and Children.
Kwadwo Odame Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company hails from Osenase in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He attained his first and second degrees from the University of Ghana Business School and GIMPA Greenhill College respectively.
Preceding his university education, he studied Purchasing and Supply Management from the Koforidua Technical University and committed himself to acquire a plethora of skills and abilities that have brought him this far in life and continue to catapult him to be on top of his performance.
Before joining the GTDC, Kwadwo Antwi was the Head of Business Development and Strategy at Ghana Union Assurance.
Kwadwo Odame Antwi is married with six children and a lover of the Arts and Sports, especially tennis and golf.
Grace Akosua Amoabeng who is in the race for the first time is a daughter of a former MP for the Lower West Akim , Hon. Dacosta Amoabeng.
Akosua is a 35 year old married woman and she attended Mfantsiman Girls Senior High, Kwame Nkrumah’ University of Science and Technology, Kumasi for Bachelor’s degree, Industrial arts,(2007 to 2011), Lloyd’s Maritime Academy -Amitlaw Professional Development Center
Professional Diploma Logistics and Supply Chain Management
(2013 – 2014).
She is currently Chief Executive Officer
Shopgreens Company Limited.
Dr. Adamu Abdulai is also joining the race for the first time and he is General Manager of DKT International AngloPhone West Africa. DKT is an International Organization solely into reproductive health with 54 branches around the world and he serves as a consultant to all the 54 branches.
Adamu Abdulai is an old student of Asamankese Secondary School and he studied General Science.
After secondary school,he taught for two years at the Osenase Teachers Experimental Preparatory School before he proceeded to the University of Coast and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry.
He holds a Masters Degree in Marketing, Social and Organisational Research from the Central University of Ghana.
He is currently a PhD candidate studying Public Health Administration at the Texilla America University Consortium.
Deputy Managing Director of Intercity STC Coaches Limited (Operations) Hon. Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye was the West Akyem Municipal Assembly from 2004 to 2008.
He holds Executive masters of resource administration EMBA (GIMPA), BSC human resource management (1 class) (GIMPA), Certificate in administration and management (CAM) (GIMPA), Certificate in slump upgrading (Sao Paulo’s experience international policy dialogue),Certificate in building capacity for local government (GIMPA),Certificate, Ghana public sector risk management (institute of risk management) and G.C.E O’level Kumasi Academy secondary school.
