Seventy-nine (79) aspirants are vying to be elected as New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidates in 27 constituencies in the Eastern Region respectively.
The nomination process for the election which has been slated for April 2020 ended on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Jeff Konadu, giving an overview of nomination and filing of forms revealed that a total number of 83 picked forms where seventy-four aspirants were able to file.
According to him, in about five Constituencies, the incumbent Members of Parliament only file for the elections and as a result, they will go unopposed.
The constituencies include; Abetifi, Asini Manso Akroso, Okere, Ofoase Ayirebi, and Upper Manya Krobo.
“Seven (7) constituencies have two aspirants vying for the primaries, five constituencies have three aspirants as their folds. He revealed.
In furtherance, he affirmed that four aspirants are yearning for the seat in six constituencies.
To conclude, Mr. Konadu added that, three constituencies have five aspirants who filed to contest and six aspirants will be vying for the seat in a constituency.
He disclosed that vetting for aspirants will commence from February 28 to March 8, 2020.
He said, vetting for aspirants in the region will be done within the date given.
