The fate of the Eastern Regional minister is in limbo as five other persons have filed nominations to contest the Nkawkaw constituency seat in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) upcoming primaries.
Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), is lucky to be the Regional minister since 2017, but it seems he is losing popularity on his own home soil.
He is going to face challenges from Kwabena Adusa Okerchiri, Seth Adjei Baah, David Asante Boateng (AFAG fame), Joyce Opoku Boateng and Frempong Joseph.
Inside report prior to the nominations of the party, has it that, some constituents in the area had openly chastised the MP of failing to deliver on his promises despite being the Overlord of the whole region, and that they will vote against him.
Also, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei Asare, is also not going to have it easy as she has to battle with four men to keep the Atiwa East seat.
Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, the New Juaben South incumbent MP is also going to battle it out with Kofi Okyere Baafi of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, a bout that has generated a lot of suspense in the NPP’s primaries scheduled for April this year.
