The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has said that the party shall hold the National Executive Council meeting and decide on a date for primaries when the ban on gathering and political activities is lifted.
According to him, the Pandemic COVID -19 has delayed Parliamentary and Presidential Primaries who were supposed to be held on 25th April 2020.
Speaking on an Accra based Television, Mr. John Boadu said the party is monitoring the situation on grounds and following the president directives on COVID -19 before proceeding to the primaries.
He said the party is yet to endorse the candidature of Nana Akufo-Addo as the party’s presidential candidate and elect Parliamentary candidates for 168 Constituencies.
The General Secretary the party has completed vetting of all candidates and 34 out of 168 are going unopposed because they were the only people who picked nomination forms and filed.
In the December General election, Mr. John Boadu said the NPP is ready to collaborate with the Electoral Commission to conduct the election.
He noted that despite Pandemic COVID -19, some Countries, including Mali and South Korea conducted an election to elect their leaders and charged the EC to learn from them see the way forward.
Mr. John Boadu reiterated the need for the electoral commission to compile new voters register for the December elections to avoid chaos.
