Mr. Isaac Agyare, the Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sunyani West Constituency, has publicly accused the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), of accepting bribes to spread false information, sow disunity, and tarnish the reputation of prominent party members, including Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
In a bold statement, Mr. Agyare alleged that Chairman Kwame Baffoe has been financially compromised by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s camp to undermine key figures within the NPP, destabilize the party, and incite violence ahead of the 2028 elections. He further claimed to possess “strong evidence” of the bribes and demanded immediate disciplinary action from the party’s national leadership.
Mr. Agyare highlighted the NPP’s drastic decline in the Bono Region under Chairman Kwame Baffoe’s tenure. “Before his chairmanship, the NPP held 11 out of 12 parliamentary seats. Today, we’ve lost all but one due to his divisive and reckless leadership,” he stated. He warned that without intervention, the party risks further disintegration ahead of the next general elections.
The Vice Chairman condemned Kwame Baffoe’s recent conduct during the party’s “Thank You Tour” in Berekum, describing it as “uncultured” and “an embarrassment to the Bono Region.” He also criticized Abronye DC’s frequent media appearances, allegedly spreads misinformation and insults party members with impunity.
“Other members, like the former MP for Dome Kwabenya and Owusu Bempah, were reprimanded for similar misconduct. Why is Kwame Baffoe exempt?” Agyare questioned, accusing the national leadership of double standards.
Mr. Agyare further alleged that Chairman Kwame Baffoe has amassed wealthincluding luxury cars and houses solely through party activities since 2014, without any visible private enterprise. “He is now using his ill-gotten resources to sabotage the very party that enriched him,” he asserted.
Mr. Agyare urged the NPP’s National Executive Committee to suspend Kwame Baffoe immediately, investigate the bribery claims, and restore discipline. “If the party fails to act, I and other loyal members will have no choice but to confront him boot-for-boot to save the NPP from collapse,” he declared.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is one of Ghana’s two major political parties, committed to democratic governance and development. The Bono Region branch has historically been a stronghold but now faces internal strife.
