Henry Nana Boakye, often known as Nana B, the national organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is certain that his group would prevail in the Assin North by-election.
After the Supreme Court (SC) determined that James Gyakye Quayson is unable to serve as an MP, the Assin North seat was declared vacant. The SC unanimously decided to order Parliament to remove his name from its files.
The Electoral Commission (EC) subsequently decided to hold a by-election in the Assin North constituency on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Gyakye Quayson has announced his desire to run for the position once more in the meantime.
The ejected MP has no chance of winning, according to Nana B, who was speaking in an interview with Kumasi’s Hello FM, since “he is not popular.”
He said that the NPP’s internal issues were the sole reason he was able to win the Assin North seat at the time.
“But now they have all been resolved . . . we are confident of winning,” he said.
