The Eastern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Kiston Akomeng Kissi has indefinitely suspended the Regional Women’s Organiser, Fati Vondolie.
The suspension took immediate effect from Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
She has been ordered by the party to return all-party properties in her possession.
In a letter dated December 22, 2020, and signed by the Eastern Regional Chairman, Kingston Okomeng Kissi, stated that “I write to officially suspend you from all activities of the party henceforth with immediate effect. This is due to your gross insubordination and disregard to regional steering committee’s directives.”
The letter also stated that “You are further requested to submit all party properties in your possession to the Regional Chairman with immediate effect. This issue is further referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for ratification and or further action”.
Meanwhile, the suspension of the Women’s Organizer has angered some party faithful who are demanding the resignation of the regional chairman, Kingston Okomeng Kissi for failed leadership.
NPP failed to achieve its one million votes target in the Eastern Region in the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary election.
While President Akufo-Addo polled 752,061 valid votes Mr. John Dramani Mahama of the largest opposition NDC party had 470,999 valid votes cast in the region.
The NPP also lost three of its Parliamentary seats to the NDC given the NDC control over eight seats out of 33 constituencies in the region.
The regional executives of the party have been blamed for the poor performance of the party despite the adequate resources given to them.
Reacting to the suspension of the Regional Women’s Organizer, a Regional Communication team member Kofi Osei is calling for the resignation of the Regional Chairman over what he succinctly puts “leaderless leadership”
