Omanhene Nana Kofi Amankwaa, NPP Controversial activist says Ghana will not seek a bailout from the International Monetary Fund, despite the current economic hardship as alleged by the opposition party National Democratic Congress, NDC.
According to Omanhene, the NPP government will consider a home-grown solution to deal with the difficulties because the country has what it takes to turn its ailing economy around.
He stressed that “the government has put in place several measures aimed at generating more revenue to strengthen the economy”.
“The Controversial electronic levy and the cuts in the salaries of public officials are all parts of the measures to restore a claim depreciating local currency” he added.
The implementation of the controversial new tax has received criticism from the opposition NDC and the majority of Ghanaians.
“In 2015, NDC turned to the IMF for a $918million loan to help stabilise the economy but we witnessed what we went through so we don’t want to repeat that mistake he added. This is the time we should mobilise ourselves to build our motherland Ghana through our resources and taxes” he advised.
