The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a demonstration for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to protest what it describes as the government’s use of state institutions to intimidate and abuse opposition members.
The protest, dubbed ‘Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna’ (We do not fear oppression), is being organised by the NPP’s National Youth Wing under the leadership of Salam Mustapha, the party’s National Youth Organiser.
Addressing the media, Salam Mustapha accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of targeting young people by revoking their appointments and taking deliberate steps to intimidate political opponents.
He further alleged that the dismissal of young appointees, the removal of the Chief Justice, and other politically motivated actions form part of a well-orchestrated agenda to silence dissent.
According to him, Ghanaians must hold politicians accountable so that “never again should leaders use deception, empty promises, and propaganda to win elections and fail to deliver.”
Mr. Mustapha argued that despite campaign pledges, the NDC government under President John Dramani Mahama has failed to end illegal mining (galamsey), declare a state of emergency, or address the ills they accused the previous administration of perpetuating.
“In effect,” he said, “we have sold our colour television to buy black and white.”
