The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Mr. Abraham Amaliba, paid a working visit to the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, on Thursday, 20th March 2025. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration on critical road safety challenges.
During discussions, Mr. Amaliba highlighted the urgent need for interventions at the Birimso Bridge, which lacks safety railings, posing a danger to road users. He also raised concerns over the indiscriminate parking of long vehicles at Apedwa Junction along the Accra–Nkawkaw–Kumasi Highway, where frequent accidents occur, as well as the encroachment of pedestrian walkways by traders in Nkurakan and Anyinam.
Touching on road safety awareness, he announced the upcoming Easter Road Safety Campaign, emphasizing the Eastern Region’s prominence in Easter activities and the need for heightened safety measures.
Mrs. Awatey welcomed the delegation and commended the NRSA for its efforts in ensuring road safety. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the NRSA’s operations in the region and assured that engagements with key stakeholders would be prioritized to address the concerns raised and ensure the necessary interventions.
The visit reinforced a shared commitment to improving road safety and protecting lives across the region.
