Kwaku Krobea Asante, Programmes Manager at the Independent Journalism Project (MFWA), has uncovered major fraud within the National Service Authority (NSA).
In an interview on Channel One TV, Asante revealed that the NSA’s payroll system has been infiltrated by “ghost names” — some of which appear as many as 226 times!
These fabricated entries, including over-age individuals and fake university credentials, have allowed fraudsters to claim allowances meant for legitimate service personnel, draining public funds.
Following a headcount of active personnel, the government has initiated an investigation and confirmed the payment of GHS 226,019,224 to settle arrears for 98,145 real service personnel.
