Nsukwao (Old Estate) Calvary Presbyterian Church has taken the third phase of their nose mask donation to the market women in Koforidua, the Agartha market to be precise.
Speaking to a member of the coordinating team, Mr. Ferdinand Akuffo, he disclosed that the church sought assistance from Bryt FM after they gathered all the resources they also had.
“Because we wanted the donation to be successful, our head pastors, Pastor Kissiedu and Rev. Owusu-Ansah thought it wise to gather the resources they had and also partner with Bryt FM to also help, because that is the most listened to a radio station in Eastern Region’, he said.
The first phase of the church’s donation took place in the township of Koforidua whilst the second phase also happened during the Muslim’s Eid al-Adha, a festival where they sought permission from the Imam and donated to Moslems in the Zongo community.
Ferdinand Akuffo went on and disclosed that it has been the church’s priority to help the vulnerable in the community and that is why they are participating in the exercise.
“The church wants to help the vulnerable in the community and we all know that market women are the most vulnerable in this pandemic era because it is hard for them to maintain the social distancing rules. These women are the ones running Ghana and that is why we have decided to support them”, he said.
The church donated over 300 nose masks to the market women who also received them with happiness.
The market Queen, Sister Elizabeth expressed her gratitude to the team for the efforts to help market women in Koforidua fight against Covid-19.
She admitted that the market women are the most vulnerable in the community because they are not able to practice social distancing but they have their sanitizers and also wash their hands frequently.
“We are very much excited that Bryt FM and Nsukwao Presby Church has thought about us and donated these nose masks to us. We are very grateful; market women are indeed exposed to the disease because of our day to day activities but we are also trying our best to protect ourselves. This kind gesture will also go along to help us fight against Covid-19”, she said.
