The National Youth Authority (NYA), in collaboration with the Parliament of Ghana, has held the maiden edition of the National Youth Parliament Mock Sitting as part of activities marking National Youth Month 2026.
The event, held at the Justice D.F. Annan Auditorium of the Parliament House of Ghana, brought young people closer to Ghana’s parliamentary and democratic processes, providing them with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of governance, leadership and national decision-making.
The initiative is aimed at preparing young Ghanaians to actively participate in the country’s democratic governance while equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Through the mock parliamentary sitting, participants were exposed to parliamentary procedures and the responsibilities associated with representing citizens and contributing to discussions on issues of national importance.
The programme also underscores efforts by the National Youth Authority and the Parliament of Ghana to promote civic education and strengthen the involvement of young people in governance.
The maiden National Youth Parliament Mock Sitting forms part of broader activities being undertaken during National Youth Month 2026 to encourage youth participation, leadership development and greater awareness of Ghana’s democratic institutions.
