The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif took his turn on Sunday at the Information Ministry Press Briefing to announce some Government interventions for the youth and plans to leverage sports for development.
At the Youth Front, the minister indicated that Government has launched the National Youth Volunteer programme which is targeted at 100,000 youth across the country.
According to him, the National Youth Policy has also been reviewed and will be launched soon and various skills and development training sessions are being held across the country for young people.
In the Sports Ecosystem, Mr Mustapha Ussif revealed work is ongoing on the construction of an Olympic Size stadium at Borteyman, the UG stadium is also being refurbished and upgraded and Game Villages are all being built for the All African Games in 2023.
“Refurbishment work is also ongoing at the Accra, Baba Yara, Cape Coast and Sekondi Stadia. 30 astroturfs are also under construction across the country” he added.
The minister assured Government will continue to invest in sports infrastructure across the country as it has the potential to create jobs and bring growth and development.
