Ghana international, Asamoah Gyan believes former Ghana Football Association president, Kwasi Nyantakyi was doing something right for the country despite the Anas Expose.
According to him, the former Vice president for CAF succeeded as the Ghana FA capo having qualified the Black Stars to its maiden world cup and subsequently played in three consecutive world cups.
Nyantakyi in 2018 suffered a major setback in life when Tiger Eye PI premiered a video which saw him using the name of the President, Nana Akuffo-Addo, the Vice President, Dr Bawumia and other senior officers of the government to collect money and lure supposed foreign investors interested in establishing businesses in Ghana.
This led to the decline of Nyantakyi as his position as the Vice president of CAF and Executive Council member of FIFA were stripped off.
In an interview with Max TV, the all-time top scorer for the country said, “Nyantakyi was doing something right. Qualifying to the World Cup three times was no mean achievement. He was also the Vice-President of CAF and held other high positions—that tell you he was doing okay”
He added, “l didn’t support what was going on, but life goes on.”
He expressed that, Kwesi Nyantakyi was doing something right and that was the reason why Ghana succeeded during his tenure as the leader of the GFA having qualified for three consecutive world cups and also winning the U-20 World Cup, a feat no Africa country has reached.
Nyantakyi is the longest serving Ghana FA president, serving from 2005 to 2018.
